Design Challenge

I would like to investigate what would make an excellent experience for coffee lovers. My assumption here is that most people consume coffee in the morning while heading to work. Walking-ordering-waiting to drink coffee takes at least 20 minutes out from their work time. What if a voice could place an order for coffee so that one could save time on ordering and waiting at the shop.


Who is affected

Everyday millions of people use public transport to travel to work or school. While they are getting ready they like to check if the bus is arriving on time or not. If the users know that they are definitely going to miss the bus, they have more time to prepare and need not rush through their morning routine. It would help prepare them for the day and reduce the anxiety of missing their bus.

Solution

When we are getting ready in the morning our hands are engaged in doing multiple chores. It is not very convenient to pick up the phone, open an app, type in the bus stop or number and see the arrival times. A much easier and convenient approach would be using a voice assistant to get the latest bus arrival times. Once we are ready to leave, we can ask the assistant to track the bus number and inform us of the latest arrival times. There are multiple ways to get the same information:

  1. User is almost ready to leave and he asks the assistant about the current status of the bus that he intends to catch. Assistant would Inform the user of arrival times of next 2 buses arriving at the stop. It would also inform when to leave in order to catch it.

  2. User can set a reminder to catch a bus at a fixed time and assistant would inform the user automatically when it’s time to leave by tracking the real-time movement of the bus.

  3. User wants to arrive at the destination by a certain time and he can ask the assistant to tell him which bus to take at what time in order for him to arrive on time.
